Brecon Hospital Children’s Waiting Room: Illustration and Layout

After completing various Illustrative and design jobs for Powys Teaching Health Board, I was asked to illustrate and create a new interactive mural in the children’s waiting room at Brecon Memorial Hospital. The brief was to create a visually interesting and exciting space that would fit in with the new interactive toys. The walls also had to appeal to both younger children and teenagers that would be waiting.

I drew inspiration from the Brecon Beacons and illustrated colourful characters doing various outdoors activities. I created puzzles and quizzes to keep waiting brains busy. The health board wanted to have a space where they could put information. We kept a notice board and added QR codes that linked to various web-pages with information about useful subjects.

The mural was created  with large format vinyl that was printed and fitted by the health board.

  • “Signe L Design’s ability to adapt to the requirements of us as a client were excellent. From small projects to large, corporate design to children-focused illustration, Signe was able to deliver each time. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for fresh and contemporary design work.”
